According to Sami Mokbel, Arsenal’s new signing will be sidelined for nearly two months due to a recent injury. In the recent summer transfer window, Arsenal bolstered their midfield depth by acquiring Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad for approximately €32 million. However, the Spanish midfielder will need to delay his debut for the Gunners.
During a recent training session, Merino sustained a significant shoulder injury following a challenge with defender Gabriel Magalhães. The 28-year-old is expected to miss several weeks of action as he recovers.
Mokbel reports that Merino’s shoulder injury, which involves a fracture, will keep him out of play for nearly two months. He is anticipated to resume training after the international break in mid-October.
This news is undoubtedly a setback for the North London club and manager Mikel Arteta. Merino’s absence from key fixtures will challenge Arsenal’s ability to maintain depth and quality in their squad as they compete with Manchester City and Liverpool.
