Diogo Jota might envision himself as a zookeeper when he eventually hangs up his football boots, especially after his recent experience handling exotic animals in Dubai. However, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker might have something to say about it, as Jota discovered over the winter break. While many players were relaxing, Jota took his break as an opportunity to visit Rashed Belhasa’s private zoo, known for its impressive collection of exotic animals and frequented by football stars.
Jota had a memorable time, posing for photos with a large bear, draping a huge snake around his neck, feeding a giraffe, handling a baby crocodile, and interacting with monkeys during his visit.
Despite his enjoyment, Alisson couldn’t resist making a playful comment on Jota’s Instagram post, calling him “Dr Dolittle ” in reference to the fictional character who communicates with animals.
Jota’s visit follows a trend of famous visitors to Belhasa’s zoo, including Chelsea’s Reece James and Mason Mount last year, and past guests like Paul Pogba, Luka Modric, David Luiz, and Lionel Messi.
While Jota clearly savored his time off, he’s eager to return to the pitch for the season’s final stretch. He has been in top form, particularly with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Jota scored twice in Liverpool’s 2-0 Carabao Cup semi-final win against Arsenal earlier this month, bringing his season total to 14 goals in 28 games.
However, the recent £50 million signing of Luis Diaz from Porto, a former club of Jota’s, could add more competition for Jota’s place in the team.
