LIVERPOOL is gearing up to go head-to-head with Manchester United in the race for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson.
The Red Devils have placed the USA international on their radar as a solution for Erik ten Hag’s squad, with a potential move as soon as January. Meanwhile, Liverpool sees Robinson, a former Everton youth product, as a valuable addition who could provide immediate cover and possibly succeed Andy Robertson in the long term.
Despite scouring the globe for left-back talent, Liverpool may find the right fit within the Premier League. At 27, Robinson is only four years younger than Robertson and stands out as one of the few seasoned defenders who can match the Scotsman’s caliber.
However, a challenge for Robinson at Liverpool could be the competition for minutes, as United has a more urgent need for a starting left-back. Fulham recently brought back Ryan Sessegnon from Tottenham, and the 24-year-old has been impressive in his role as an attacking left-back. Reports have also suggested that Manchester City had their sights set on Sessegnon, valued at around £35 million.
Robinson made the switch to Fulham in 2020 for approximately £2 million from Wigan, and he has since amassed 155 appearances for the club over five seasons, along with 46 caps for the national team.
