LIVERPOOL ace Jarell Quansah scored a bizarre own goal against West Ham during a moment of lunacy.
Quansah, 21, was picked to Reds boss Arne Slot’s starting lineup in the third round of the Carabao Cup against West Ham at Anfield.
However, the centre-back was extremely unlucky in the 21st minute, when the visitors won a corner kick down the left.
Following the cross, panic broke out in the Merseysiders’ defence, and Wataru Endo instinctively attempted to smash the ball away.
Endo’s clearance, however, struck Quansah before landing in Caoimhin Kelleher’s net.
Liverpool fans were stunned, but took to social media to support the England Under-21 international, who was not to blame.
One fan wrote, “Poor Quansah. He has just scored an own goal. “He can’t get a break, that lad!”
Another said, “That’s not a good one.”
A third said, “Keeper hopeless, shambolic defending too.”
This one said, “What just happened?!”
And that one wrote, “Bloody hell.”
Quansah has struggled to get into Liverpool’s starting lineup under Slot.
Jamie Carragher names an all-time Liverpool XI that includes Match of the Day legend Steven Gerrard and no room for Luis Suarez.
Carragher’s Dream Team
The defender only started one match in the Premier League season opening against Ipswich, with Virgil van Dijk.
However, the kid was replaced at halftime, and Slot has been playing Van Dijk alongside Ibrahima Konate ever since.
