KIND GESTURE: Liverpool star Ryan Gravenberch opened a football pitch after receiving the Johan Cruijff Talent Award to encourage kids to participate in the sport

Ryan Gravenberch received the renowned Johan Cruijff Talent of the Year award for the Eredivisie 2020-2021 season on the Cruyff Court Betondorp, the local pitch where Johan played football as a child near his parents’ home.

Since 2003, the Johan Cruijff Award has been given to the Talent of the Year. Cruijff hopes that this prize will inspire young football players to work hard for a better future and make a positive social contribution.

 

 

The Johan Cruyff Foundation grants the winner the chance to create a Cruyff Court in any site of their choice. This initiative enables vulnerable young people to participate in accessible sports, so enhancing their mental, social, and physical growth.

A panel of 14 renowned experts almost unanimously chose the outstanding 19-year-old Ajax midfielder. In addition to their football ability, Premier League players were evaluated using Johan Cruijff’s 14 principles, which included team spirit and responsibility.

Ryan made a tremendous contribution to Ajax at such a young age, and the jury praised his extraordinary and speedy improvement.
