Despite calls for his resignation, Steven Gerrard released a strong message last week, stating that he intends to remain manager of Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq.
Gerrard is 16 months into his £15.2 million-per-year contract with Al-Ettifaq, and he led the side to sixth place in the Saudi Pro League last season.
However, they are in 10th place this season, having not won a league game since September 14, and they hit a new low on Wednesday, losing 3-1 to lower league team Al-Jabalain to exit the King Cup at the last-16 stage.
Gerrard denied scheduling training sessions around Liverpool matches during a press conference on Friday and vowed to keep working hard to bring success to the Saudi Pro League club.
‘My major priority is this job and making this club the greatest it can be, both on and off the field,’ Gerrard added. “I am all in, and I will continue to be all in.”
Steven Gerrard is under pressure in his Saudi Pro League duty, but lives a life of luxury away from the pitch.
