ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER has spoken out about a lawsuit launched against him by his ex-girlfriend, whom he broke up with days after winning the World Cup.
Camila Mayan, his former partner, is suing the 25-year-old Liverpool star.
The model, who dated the midfielder for five years, is seeking financial recompense from him for the time they spent overseas together.
She has also accused him of retaining her belongings and being disloyal to Ailén Cova, his current companion and childhood friend.
However, speaking from his car ahead of Argentina’s match against Paraguay, he has now revealed details about the relationship.
According to the Mirror, he stated that there was no longer a relationship. She chose her road, I went mine, and that was that.
“As for the other matter (the case), everything is in court, as it should be, and we are waiting.
“At the time we discussed what we needed to discuss, but it was clearly her decision, everything is fine and she is within her rights.”
Mac Allister believes it was Mayan’s decision to publicize the fallout from their relationship, although he rejected the accusations of infidelity.
He said further: “I think it’s normal in a relationship; she made the decision to come out and make public things that she felt or that she believes happened, but I know how things went and that’s why I’m very calm.”
The former Brighton player has claimed that he and Cova are planning a future together, saying: “We are well, happy, building our lives there in England, enjoying life together.”
However, Mayan’s lawyer, Ignacio Trimarco, stated earlier this year that his client did not want to publicize their breakup and claimed it was initiated by Mac Allister.
“The action has been filed for some time, and the proceedings began over a year and a half ago.
“Nothing was communicated from our end; it was discovered from the other side because Camila does not want this situation made public.
“Her request is confidential, as is any family matter, but it is for financial recompense.
“In this case [the amount requested by Mayan] will be determined by a judge based on the evidence presented.”
The amount is derived as a percentage of the former Brighton star’s earnings during his time with Mayan.
Trimarco added: “There is debate surrounding this rule, but it is a statute established by Congress that applies to all couples, whether they are with an idol such as a world champion or a businessman with a business outside of the country.
“This law is concerned with protecting the weakest member of a couple who has not registered their marriage.
“It is a law that applies and is in effect for anyone who has lived together for more than two years in a public, notorious, and peaceful manner.
“Moreover, the claim has to be initiated within six months of the end of the relationship.”
Silvina Riela, Mac Allister’s mother, added, “We’re dealing with it the best we can. We have responded to the case, and everything is on track. According to her, everything is proceeding as expected in the courts.
“We remain calm because we always deal with the facts and believe in fairness. Furthermore, we are aware that the laws are in place to ensure that this goes well.
When asked about the media coverage of the case, she replied: “It’s part of the game.
“They are exposed, and it is part of what you must confront or deal with. That is all.
“We have people who are with us, professionals, so we think it’s going to go the best way.”
Mayan is an influencer with over 1.6 million followers on TikTok and Instagram.
This season, Mac Allister has played 17 games for Liverpool under Arne Slot and scored one goal.
