According to sources, Liverpool have selected Lyon’s Rayan Cherki as a potential replacement for Mo Salah.
Salah’s contract expires at the end of the season and he has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Paris Saint-Germain also showing interest.
Liverpool are reportedly looking for his long-term replacement and are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt hotshot Omar Marmoush.
L’Equipe reports that the Reds have now identified Cherki as a possible successor.
Cherki, 21, has a year left on his contract, which Lyon has the option to extend.
However, the French club may be forced to sell due to its rising debt of £422 million.
Ligue 1 has imposed a transfer embargo on the club, and they will lose their top-flight status at the conclusion of the season unless they improve their situation and avoid administration.
Cherki made his France debut earlier this year and has 19 goals in 152 games for Lyon.
He has previously declined to discuss his future, implying that he is just concerned with Lyon.
He stated earlier this year, “I don’t think about what’s next at all.”

“My future will wait till the end of the season. Lyon comes first. We will ask the question when the time comes, but not right now.”
Fulham are also expected to make a play for Cherki after failing with a £35 million bid last January.
