MAD DECISION: Real Madrid ‘inform Liverpool they want to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold’ A free transfer might be agreed within weeks

Real Madrid’s interest in signing Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has been highlighted in recent reports. With Alexander-Arnold’s contract at Anfield set to expire next summer, the Spanish giants are reportedly keen on swooping in for the talented right-back.

As the full-back’s contract situation approaches its end, Real Madrid are poised to open negotiations for a potential pre-contract agreement with Alexander-Arnold. The LaLiga champions have reportedly communicated their desire to Liverpool as a sign of respect, indicating their intentions to pursue the academy graduate

Real Madrid sees Alexander-Arnold as a long-term successor to Dani Carvajal in the right-back position, especially with Carvajal, aged 32, dealing with an ACL injury.

While Liverpool is hopeful of convincing Alexander-Arnold to extend his stay at Anfield, Real Madrid’s hierarchy believes they have a chance to entice the England international to make a move to Spain.

One aspect that could work in Real Madrid’s favor is Alexander-Arnold’s friendship with Jude Bellingham, as the two players have developed a strong bond during their time together in England camps.

Having made significant contributions since his debut in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has played an integral role in Liverpool’s successes, including winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.

Despite Alexander-Arnold’s importance under new manager Arne Slot, he is currently recovering from a hamstring injury sustained earlier this month against Aston Villa. There are hopes for his return to action against Manchester City this Sunday.

Additionally, Liverpool faces contract uncertainties with key players like Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, both of whom are also set to be out of contract at the end of the season. Salah recently hinted at a potential departure from Anfield, stating that he feels “more out than in” and revealing that he has not yet received a contract offer from the club.
