Liverpool has reportedly come to an agreement with Mohamed Salah regarding a new contract.
There has been considerable speculation about the future of the winger, whose current contract is set to expire at the end of June.
According to The Mirror, Salah is now close to signing a new two-year deal to remain at Anfield.
Salah’s agent, Rammy Abbas, informed Liverpool that he sought a three-year contract for his client, while Fenway Sports Group had initially been willing to offer just a one-year extension.
However, a compromise has now been reached, with the 32-year-old poised to extend his stay at the club where he has played since 2017.
Salah currently earns approximately £400,000 per week at Liverpool, with finances not being a factor in his decision about the future.
Liverpool has reportedly reached an agreement with Mohamed Salah regarding a new contract.
Salah is set to sign a new two-year deal that will keep him with Arne Slot’s team.
Liverpool is also aiming to secure new contracts for Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom are in the final year of their current deals.
Salah remains a vital player for Liverpool, as evidenced by his 13 goals and eight assists in 14 Premier League matches this season.
In total, the Egyptian star has netted 226 goals in 370 appearances for Liverpool.
He has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and two League Cups during his tenure at the club.
The news about Salah will be a significant boost for Arne Slot, whose team currently leads the Premier League.
Last month, Salah expressed his disappointment at not having received a new deal from Liverpool at that time.
Speaking to a small group of reporters following Liverpool’s victory at Southampton, Salah stated: “We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club. I’m probably more out than in.”
There has been much speculation about Salah’s future, but he is now expected to remain.
Liverpool is also looking to secure new contracts for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
“You know I have been at the club for many years. There is no club like this. But ultimately, it is not in my hands. As I mentioned, it is December, and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it’s not in my or the fans’ hands.”
When asked if he was disappointed by the lack of progress, Salah added: “Of course, yes. I’m not going to retire soon, so I’m focusing on the season, trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed, but we will see.”
