Liverpool are monitoring Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but TEAMtalk understands he is not the priority for Arne Slot as he seeks a new winger, with four top targets identified.
The Georgian international is regarded as one of Europe’s elite wide players, attracting interest from several clubs.
A recent report from the Italian outlet Calciomercato indicated that Napoli might lose Kvaratskhelia due to uncertainty over his contract situation.
It was reported that there is a ‘significant gap’ between the club’s offer and the player’s salary demands, with Kvaratskhelia’s current deal running until 2027.
However, sources have informed TEAMtalk that Kvaratskhelia is expected to sign a new contract with Napoli after new manager Antonio Conte convinced him to stay.
His priority remains extending his stay at Napoli, but only under favorable terms. The club is offering Kvaratskhelia between €5m to €6m per season, while his agents are asking for at least €8m, along with a release clause.
Despite the ongoing negotiations, all parties believe an agreement will be reached, even as Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Barcelona keep a close watch on his situation.
Liverpool’s preferred targets include Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo, Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, as they look for a long-term replacement for Mo Salah.
Salah, 32, is expected to leave Liverpool on a free transfer next summer when his contract expires. Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are poised to make formal offers in January, potentially making him one of the highest-paid players in the world.
Like Salah, Sane is also out of contract at the end of the season, making him a potential free-agent signing if he does not agree to a new deal.
Kubo and Adeyemi are likely to be more affordable options compared to Kvaratskhelia, who Napoli values at over €100m (£84m / $107.8m).
Kvaratskhelia’s agents want a release clause set below €100m, but Napoli would still demand a substantial upfront payment, complicating matters for interested clubs.
TEAMtalk sources indicate that PSG, whose priority next summer is to strengthen their squad with wingers, remain keen on Kvaratskhelia. Barcelona is also monitoring the Napoli star closely.
