Madridistas divided over potential ᴘᴜɴɪsʜᴍᴇɴᴛ for Valverde’s alleged ᴘᴜɴᴄʜ on Baena

Fede Valverde might be suspended for the incident by the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee, but only if the Uruguayan is the subject of a formal complaint.

Federico Valverde of Real Madrid might escape ᴘᴜɴɪsʜᴍᴇɴᴛ from Spain’s soccer authorities for his alleged ᴀssᴀᴜʟᴛ on Lex Baena of Villarreal.

Valverde alleged to have ᴘᴜɴᴄʜᴇᴅ Baena post-match

As the players of the visiting squad were boarding their team bus following Saturday’s LaLiga match between Madrid and Los Groguets at the Bernabéu, Valverde allegedly ʜɪᴛ Baena in the face. According to Valverde, Baena made derogatory ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴇɴᴛs about the Uruguayan’s son both during and after the game, according to the Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

The alleged event was not recorded in referee Javier Alberola Rojas’ report of the game, which Villarreal won 3-2, since it occurred off the field of play and was hidden from the officials’ line of sight.

Villarreal, Baena minded not to report Valverde

As far as AS is aware, neither Villarreal nor Baena intend to file a complaint against Valverde with the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee, which decides on player sanctions. Without a complaint against the Madrid player, the Competition Committee cannot open an investigation.

How long could Valverde be banned for if probed?

Depending on which rule of Spanish soccer’s disciplinary code it chose to base its decision on, the committee could impose a sentence on Valverde that ranged from two to 12 games if it were to come into effect.

Iza Carcelén, a defender for Cadiz, was recently sentenced to a three-match suspension following an altercation in the tunnel under the terms of article 130 of the disciplinary code. The clause states: “If a violent action occurs away from the play, with the game stopped or with no opportunity to challenge for the ball, the player will be suspended for two to three matches.”

Article 103 is another option open to the authority, however it seems less likely given that it only seems to apply to situations that occur in video games. Attacking another player while the game is halted or while they are too far away from the ball to interfere with play will result in a ban of four to twelve games, according to the rules.

Antio-violence commission could act against Valverde

The Madrid midfielder may still be in trouble if Villarreal and Baena decide not to inform the Competition Committee about Valverde.

The State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport could be consulted after Spanish police have obtained sᴛᴀᴛᴇᴍᴇɴᴛs from those involved. This organization, which is a part of Spain’s National Sports Council, has the option of either suggesting Valverde be punished or requesting an investigation from the Competition Committee.

Will Carlo Ancelotti equal Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid trophy haul?

Real Madrid can yet win the Copa del Rey and the Champions League this season despite being all but eliminated from LaLiga. Ancelotti will make club history if they succeed.

After Real Madrid defeated Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinal on Wednesday, Carlo Ancelotti is still in the running to become the club’s second-most decorated head coach by the end of the year, tied with Zinedine Zidane.

Ancelotti within two Zidane’s Real Madrid trophy tally

During his two terms as manager of Real Madrid’s Bernabéu, Zidane, who served as Ancelotti’s assistant during the 2013–14 season, won 11 trophies. Including his two stints, Ancelotti presently has nine. Los Blancos still have a chance to win the Copa when they take on Osasuna in May’s final in Seville, even if Madrid is all but out of contention to win LaLiga this season. They also still have a chance to defend their Champions League title. This month, in the quarterfinals of Europe’s premier club championship, the 14-time winners of the continent face Chelsea.

Miguel Muoz, who led Madrid to 14 championships in just over 13 seasons between the 1960s and the early 1970s, is the most successful coach in the club’s history. It’s important to remember that Muoz’s tenure as Madrid’s manager only spanned the first two years of the UEFA Super Cup and occurred before the Spanish Super Cup was established. Both occasions have helped coaches in the modern age add to their trophy collections.

Ancelotti setting records in Bernabéu dugout

By the time his fourth season as Madrid’s manager is over, Ancelotti will have led the team to two Champions League victories, one LaLiga triumph, one Copa del Rey triumph, two Club World Cup victories, two European Super Cup victories, and one Spanish Super Cup victory.

He has accomplished this while ʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ numerous records. He is the only manager to have at least once won each competition Madrid has participated in with him (Zidane was unable to win the Copa). Ancelotti also became the most successful coach in European Cup history after winning the Champions League last season. He has won four cups total, including two with AC Milan in 2003 and 2007 and two more with Real Madrid in 2014 and 2022.

The 63-year-old has won domestic titles with all five of Europe’s top leagues during his time in the Spanish capital: he won the Serie A with Milan in 2003, the Premier League with Chelsea in 2010, the Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich in 2017, and LaLiga with Madrid last season.

Ancelotti has supervised 860 games during his tenure as a coach in the “big five” leagues. The only ᴍᴇɴ to surpass that figure are Sir Alex Ferguson (906) and Jupp Heynckes (1,135) of Arsenal. (882). None of the three, though, coached in every major league, unlike the Italian.

Ancelotti has coached at Madrid for the fourth-most games (220) in club history, after Muoz (605), Zidane (263) and Vicente del Bosque. (248). He has the best win percentage (72.3%) of all Bernabéu managers who have presided over at least 50 games.
