Napoli are reportedly gearing up to target Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho as they look to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this month, according to various sources.
Kvaratskhelia, who has also attracted interest from Liverpool, is anticipated to join Paris Saint-Germain after informing Antonio Conte of his desire to leave.
As per Sport Italia, Conte has identified Garnacho as his top choice to fill the void left by Kvaratskhelia, and United is said to have set their asking price.
It is believed that the 20-year-old could be available for a transfer fee of €50 million (£42 million) after falling out of favor with new manager Ruben Amorim.
Napoli are reportedly preparing to make a move for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Garnacho has been on the bench for the last five matches and was completely left out of United’s victory over Manchester City, alongside the departing Marcus Rashford.
According to Mail Sport, United is open to offers for nearly all their players, including previously untouchable talents Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho.
Antonio Conte has targeted Garnacho as the ideal replacement for Kvaratskhelia.
The club is urgently trying to generate revenue to comply with the Premier League’s strict profit and sustainability regulations. Under these rules, homegrown players are valued at 100 percent profit and about four times more than their non-homegrown counterparts.
Thus, the market value of Mainoo and Garnacho has soared to a level that even a club of United’s caliber finds hard to ignore.
While United would prefer to keep both players, especially with Rashford likely to leave this month, they would opt to sell Garnacho if given the choice.
The winger has struggled to adapt to Amorim’s 3-4-3 system and hasn’t started a game since the 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on December 7.
Garnacho has scored 23 goals in 115 appearances since breaking into United’s first team.
However, Amorim has stated a desire to retain the young talent.
“I truly value my players. I want to keep them, especially the gifted ones,” said Amorim. “It’s a unique time for this club; while it’s challenging, I’m pleased with Kobbie’s progress and with Garnacho.
“Our goal is always to retain the best players we’re developing for this club.
“We understand the club’s current situation, but we will see. I’m very happy; I appreciate our players, particularly those from our academy.”
Reports suggest that the only United players currently not available for transfer are Leny Yoro, a £59 million summer signing, and Amad Diallo, who has recently signed a new contract.
