Borussia Dortmund is actively working to persuade Marcus Rashford to join them on loan following recent discussions. The England international was notably left out of Manchester United’s squad for their dramatic 3-1 comeback victory against Southampton on Thursday, marking a continuing trend as he has not played under manager Ruben Amorim since expressing his desire to leave the club in a revealing interview last month.
Rashford’s brothers have also been in talks with AC Milan and Barcelona regarding potential moves. Reports from Germany indicate that Dortmund is eager to bolster their squad after a disappointing start to the season, currently sitting 10th in the Bundesliga. With the recent sale of Donyell Malen to Aston Villa, they are looking to bring Rashford in during the January transfer window.
Milan remains a contender for Rashford’s signature, with advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirming the club’s interest. He noted, “I know Marcus well; I played with him when he was young. It is not an easy operation, but we have not spoken to him yet. We’ll see if we will speak to him.”
However, Milan faces challenges due to Serie A registration rules, leaving them to decide which English player to pursue, as they can only register one additional British player following regulatory changes post-Brexit. They are also interested in Kyle Walker, which complicates their options.
Meanwhile, Napoli is exploring a move for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho but is hesitant to meet the £65 million valuation set by United. Last season, Dortmund successfully secured a short-term loan for Jadon Sancho, who had also fallen out of favor at United, highlighting a potential path for Rashford.
