Liverpool has reportedly initiated talks with Nurnberg forward Stefanos Tzimas, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Reds are exploring potential signings for both January and summer, as manager Arne Slot considers squad reinforcements. However, immediate arrivals this month seem unlikely, as Slot appears satisfied with his current roster.
Plettenberg shared on X that discussions have begun regarding the 19-year-old Tzimas, who is regarded as one of Greece’s brightest talents and has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs. He noted:
“Liverpool have held talks with Nurnberg about Stefanos Tzimas joining in the summer. A phone call occurred days ago, and LFC contacted his camp.”
Tzimas has made a significant impact this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists in 15 games for Nurnberg while on loan from PAOK. The club plans to exercise their €18 million buy option, aiming to sell him for €25 million plus add-ons in the summer. Other clubs, including Chelsea, Brighton, Aston Villa, and several Bundesliga teams, have also shown interest.
Scouts, including Jacek Kulig, have praised Tzimas for his pace, power, and finishing ability, highlighting him as a key player for Greece’s attacking future alongside Kostoulas.
As Liverpool looks to the future of their forward line, Tzimas could be a crucial addition, especially considering that Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez, both 25, are currently their youngest attacking options. Tzimas, as a center-forward, may eventually surpass Nunez, especially amidst uncertainties regarding the Uruguayan’s future at Anfield.
