Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has reportedly declined an offer from Galatasaray to join the Turkish club in January. The 27-year-old is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, having indicated in December that he is ready for a “new challenge.”
Despite being under contract until June 2028, Manchester United may consider selling the academy graduate this month if they receive “top offers.” Rashford has been linked with several European clubs after turning down three lucrative propositions from the Saudi Pro League.
There have been suggestions that Rashford is aiming for a move to Barcelona, but this seems unlikely due to the club’s significant financial challenges. Additionally, journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Rashford has rejected Galatasaray’s recent loan approach for the remainder of the season.
Instead, a transfer to either Italy or Germany appears more feasible, as both AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in Rashford this month. Romano notes that both clubs have “asked for conditions” regarding a potential deal and are planning further discussions.
Milan may have a slight edge at the moment, as Rashford’s representatives arrived in Italy on Tuesday night to hold talks with the Rossoneri. Discussions with Dortmund are also anticipated.
Furthermore, Sky Sports News reports that Juventus, linked with Joshua Zirkzee, are in the running for Rashford as they seek a new strike partner for Dusan Vlahovic. Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, are also considering a mid-season move for Rashford.
While Manchester United would prefer to sell Rashford to generate pure accounting profit, they recognize that January is a challenging time for major transfers, so a straight loan for their No. 10 cannot be ruled out. Interested parties will need to consider Rashford’s current salary, which exceeds £325,000 per week, and Manchester United may need to cover a substantial portion of his wages if he is temporarily offloaded.
Rashford has not participated in any of Manchester United’s last six matches, having been omitted from Ruben Amorim’s squad for the derby victory against Manchester City on December 15. He was named in the matchday squad for the Premier League defeat to Newcastle United on December 30 but remained an unused substitute.
As it stands, there is no certainty regarding Rashford’s future at Old Trafford before the January transfer window closes.
