MANCHESTER UNITED star Luke Shaw was spotted taking a stroll in slippers amid concerns about another injury setback.
Shaw, 29, hasn’t started a match for United in nearly a year due to ongoing muscle issues, making only three substitute appearances since manager Ruben Amorim took charge in November.
The left-back hasn’t played since December’s 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford and shared news of another setback just two days later.
Concerns are growing that the England international’s injury problems have intensified, despite his participation in training before Thursday’s Europa League win at FCSB.
However, SunSport reports that the new issue is minor, and the defender is expected to return to training on Monday, easing fears of another lengthy absence.
Following this news, Shaw was seen out in Wilmslow as Manchester United prepares for Friday’s FA Cup match against Leicester at Old Trafford.
The former Southampton player was wearing black Ugg slippers in public, paired with sweatpants, a bulky puffer jacket, and a hoodie.
United manager Amorim could utilize Shaw as a left wing-back in his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, although he may face stiff competition from January signing Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu joined from Lecce during the winter transfer window for £25 million, and it looks like both players will compete for a starting spot.
Ruben Amorim has also been noted for his unusual training methods, including slapping players, which has led fans to hope, “I hope Luke Shaw stays healthy.”
Shaw has recorded four goals and 25 assists in 278 appearances across all competitions since joining from Southampton in 2014.
Additionally, another injury-plagued player, Tyrell Malacia, has been loaned out to PSV Eindhoven.
