Lucas Vazquez will not play against Manchester City due to a hamstring injury, Real Madrid has confirmed.
Right-back Lucas Vazquez had yet another injury setback when he was unable to play in Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Manchester City because of a hamstring issue. Vazquez, who played in Saturday’s La Liga match against Real Madrid, was replaced in the 81st minute by Luka Modric. The Los Blancos informed on Sunday that the player will not be traveling to Manchester due to a left hamstring injury suffered.
According to the Spanish champions’ official statement, Lucas Vázquez will not be traveling to Manchester because of a left hamstring injury that was discovered during tests conducted on him today by Real Madrid Medical Services. His recuperation will be evaluated.
When Los Blancos lost Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal to long-term injuries in October and November of last year, respectively, it was a significant defensive loss. In February, things got worse after they lost their first-choice center-backs, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, to injuries. Carlo Ancelotti was then dealt a major blow when he learned of Vazquez’s status.
Given Vazquez’s absence, Ancelotti may think about starting Eduardo Camavinga, a temporary full-back, on the right side. During the 2023–24 season, the Frenchman did spend a significant number of games on the left side of the backline.
