On Sunday, Manchester United lost 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur on the road, their 12th loss of the Premier League season.
Compared to Spurs, the Red Devils lacked the cutting edge, despite having numerous opportunities to score.
James Maddison gave the home team the lead with an early goal. Garnacho had an incredible chance to tie the score, but his effort went far over the crossbar.
Despite the loss, there were several encouraging aspects, and Dorgu’s performance as a left wing-back really impressed us.
When the winter acquisition made his debut against Leicester City, he started on the right, but manager Ruben Amorim started him on the other end against Ange Postecoglou’s team.
Dorgu was excellent on defense but did not contribute to any goals. In addition to having a perfect tackle success rate (4/4), he won nine of the ten duels he contested.
The £29 million acquisition has made a strong start to his career at United. When faced with the challenge against Spurs, he didn’t appear overwhelmed.
Now, it’s up to them to continue being as reliable to secure a starting spot under Amorim for the upcoming games.
In the meantime, United’s situation has gotten worse. Following the defeat in North London over the weekend, the team has fallen to 15th place in the standings.
At Goodison Park, they play an unbeaten Everton team next, and it might be another difficult trip unless they capitalize and convert their scoring chances.
