Darwin Núñez, the Liverpool forward from England, joined the Uruguayan team’s training sessions in Montevideo for the Copa América, set to take place in the United States this June. He also attended a basketball game between Peñarol and Defensor Sporting.
The match, part of the semifinals of the Uruguayan Basketball League, took place at the Antel Arena, where fans of Carbonero cheered for the football star as he arrived and took his seat in the front row.
Darwin Núñez witnessed Peñarol’s advancement.
Núñez, a professional athlete with the Aurinegros, watched Peñarol secure a 103-66 victory over Defensor Sporting, winning the semifinal series 3-2 in the Uruguayan Basketball League, which is set to begin on Friday against Aguada.
The champion of the first division basketball season will be determined in a best-of-seven series.
