Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka scored a spectacular goal this week with the students at Edward Betham C of E Primary School in Greenford, west London.
When the England player returned to his old school, he instantly gained notoriety. Gunner received all As in school and was a standout player for his club. He recalls feeling happy throughout that time.
Saka impressed the kids and gave them new New Balance clothes for the future before writing on Twitter, “It was a special feeling to return to my elementary school yesterday.” I remember being in the same situation as all the young kids with big dreams a few years back. When I get back, I hope they’ll think they can do anything!
To provide an example for the students, New Balance and Bukayo Saka built a mural of Saka at the school in addition to supplying football shirts for the next generation to wear.
Saka, whose family is from Nigeria, has been a bright spot for the Gunners ever since he made his debut for the north London club. Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, is said to have said of the young player, “He’s very humble and polite, but he also has that character, and on the field he can demand the ball.” For his age, he is able to do and make unusual choices.
Peter Mason, the chairman of the Ealing Council, nominated Saka for Freedom of the Borough last summer.
In reference to Saka’s achievements, Councillor Mason said: “Bukayo Saka used to play football on the Brentside Playing Fields and the fields at Greenford High just a few short years ago.”
Everyone in Ealing is proud that one of our own played for England at Wembley in Euro 2020. This amazing story of skill and success may inspire, uplift, and encourage everyone.
