Man Utd shiniest youngster want to come back Old Trafford after fast grown time away

The Sunderland loanee has found his feet at the Stadium of Light and is targeting a return to Manchester United’s first squad.

Amad, a Manchester United youth, has expressed his desire to play a role in Erik ten Hag’s plans for next season, expressing his aspirations to become a first-team regular at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old has had a productive loan stint at Sunderland this season, scoring 11 goals in 34 appearances as a regular starter for Tony Mowbray. Amad scored twice in Friday’s 4-4 draw with Hull, leaving the Black Cats outside the Championship play-offs.

Amad joined United from Atalanta in 2021 for a fee of £19 million, which may climb to £37 million. Two months after coming in Manchester, the attacker scored in one of nine first-team outings, a 1-1 Europa League knockout tie against AC Milan.

After a disappointing loan term with Rangers, Amad returned to United to play few times under Erik ten Hag in pre-season before agreeing to another loan spell abroad. The Ivorian has thrived at the Stadium of Light, becoming a fan favorite and impressing manager Tony Mowbray so much that he begged United not to return him in January.

Amad, on the other hand, has one eye on the long term, as he said upon his return to United. “I haven’t showed my best for them [United] yet, but I want to return and display my potential next season,” he told FourFourTwo. My ambition is to play regularly for Manchester United.”

Amad’s last competitive senior appearance for United came in May 2021, when he began in a 2-1 victory against Wolves on the last day. He earned his first first-team assist two weeks earlier against Leicester in a 2-1 loss.

Along from his 11 goals, Amad has three assists for Sunderland. His loan period is set to terminate at the conclusion of the season.
