Virgil van Dijk has reportedly been offered a massive deal by Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal as uncertainty surrounds his future at Liverpool.
Just a day after Liverpool’s Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain, L’Equipe reports that Van Dijk, whose contract expires this summer, is considering a €20 million (£16.8m/$21.7m) offer from Al-Hilal but has not responded yet, as he remains focused on Liverpool’s remaining matches.
The 33-year-old surprised many when he revealed that no progress had been made in contract talks and dismissed claims of an extension as “lies.” Losing the influential center-back, who has been in excellent form this season, would be a significant blow to Arne Slot’s plans for Liverpool’s rebuild.
The report also mentions that Al-Hilal tried to tempt Barcelona captain Raphinha to join them in Saudi Arabia, but the 28-year-old, who is in superb form, rejected their approach.
Looking ahead, Van Dijk will aim to lead Liverpool to another Carabao Cup victory when they face Newcastle United at Wembley on Sunday, regardless of his contract situation.
