Luis Díaz Shines at Liverpool and Settles in Matthew Street, the City’s Famous Quarter
One of Liverpool’s most iconic neighborhoods, Matthew Street, now hosts a new resident: Colombian winger Luis Díaz.
Just over two months into his Liverpool journey, Díaz has won praise from manager Jürgen Klopp, teammates, fans, and club legends. While the language barrier has limited deeper bonds with some squad members, his performance on the pitch continues to earn widespread admiration.
Recently, former Liverpool star Danny Murphy applauded Díaz’s contributions during the FA Cup semifinal against Manchester City. “He makes it look effortless, doesn’t he? He plays without fear—physically strong and quick,” Murphy said on Match of the Day. “He’s willing to work. When Liverpool have the ball, he’s making runs; and when they don’t, he tracks back to help Robertson. That’s exactly what Klopp expects from his players.”
Díaz’s move to Liverpool was made possible by substantial financial backing. The Reds paid nearly 45 million euros for his transfer, making it one of the most significant deals in Colombian football history. According to Fichajes.com, without bonuses included, Díaz earns nearly 3.8 million euros annually.
In recent days, more details have emerged about Díaz’s new life in England. The Colombian star resides in a luxury home worth over 5.5 million euros in the elite Matthew Street district—approximately 22 billion Colombian pesos. Sharing the neighborhood with teammates like Sadio Mané and Alisson Becker has made his adjustment smoother.
Díaz’s residence reportedly features six bedrooms, a gaming zone, a patio with barbecue, a spacious garden, large windows, and lavish interiors, according to real estate site Metro Cuadrado. Homes in this area are also known for offering some of the best views in the city.
Matthew Street is not just a high-end residential area—it’s a tourist hotspot. In August, it hosts a major festival in honor of The Beatles, Liverpool’s most legendary band.
Among its attractions is the iconic Cavern Club, one of the city’s busiest shopping spots. As mentioned by Buen Viaje magazine, the area boasts brand stores, Beatles-themed shops, and bargain outlets, making it a prime commercial and cultural hub.
On the football calendar, a huge clash looms: Liverpool vs. Manchester United. These two Premier League giants will battle on Tuesday the 30th at 2:00 p.m., in what will be Luis Díaz’s first English “derby,” played at the iconic Anfield Stadium.
A Liverpool win would see them temporarily top the Premier League table, pending Manchester City’s match against Brighton later in the day. Meanwhile, Manchester United will be desperate for three points to catch up with Tottenham Hotspur and stay in the race for Champions League qualification.
