A Sport Bild article claims that Arsenal is now trying to sign Bayer Leverkusen standout Florian Wirtz. iMiaSanMia has additional information.
It makes sense for Real Madrid to want to sign the German defender. He is already one of the most fascinating young football players in the world, even though he is only 21 years old.
Arsenal, on the other hand, has been monitoring Wirtz for a while. They saw him play for DC Köln when he was younger.
When Wirtz’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires in 2027, he reportedly already knows what he wants to do.
He intends to play for and win a Champions League championship with another team after leaving the Bundesliga.
He also wants to play for a team that will enable him to compete for individual awards like the Ballon d’Or. The reason Bayer Leverkusen is asking €150 million for Wirtz is because they recognize his potential.
Real Madrid is still in the lead.
It’s doubtful that Wirtz will be leaving Leverkusen anytime soon. In the end, though, Real Madrid is thought to be the front-runner to sign the playmaker.
One of the main reasons for this is that Carlo Ancelotti may be replaced as manager of Real Madrid by Xabi Alonso, who now manages Bayer Leverkusen.
Alonso and Wirtz have worked together a lot, and the former midfielder’s influence might be very important in any future transfer.
Real Madrid is still the front-runner to sign Wirtz, even if it will be a while until the next summer transfer window opens. Prominent European teams like Arsenal and Bayern Munich compete fiercely with them.
