Since stepping down as Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has been making the most of his newfound free time — and doing it in style. The iconic German coach was back in his homeland this weekend, attending the European Championship final between England and Spain in Berlin.
Klopp and his wife Ulla have been spotted at several high-profile events in recent weeks. From cheering at a Taylor Swift concert at Anfield to enjoying some downtime at a tennis match in Majorca, the couple appears to be fully embracing their post-Liverpool chapter.
The 56-year-old also returned to his football roots to watch former club Borussia Dortmund fall to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, all while settling into his new luxury villa — no doubt a well-earned retreat after nearly a decade at the Liverpool helm.
At the Euros final, Klopp rubbed shoulders with NBA star Dennis Schröder, pop icon Ed Sheeran, and German handball players David Spaeth and Jurik Norr, posing for photos and soaking up the atmosphere.
Though his former players Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez didn’t feature in the match, Klopp will likely have been keeping a close eye on the game. Like many, he was probably puzzled by England’s underuse of Alexander-Arnold, especially with Spain’s Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal wreaking havoc down the flanks.
With Spain’s clinical edge earning them the title and England falling short again, Klopp would have appreciated the tactical nuances—though for once, simply as a fan.
