On Krobo country, Thomas Partey, a midfielder for Arsenal FC, has been given a new traditional title.
The Krobo Traditional Council has given Partey the title “mahefalor,” which translates to “defender of Krobo.”
He received the title as a result of his achievements with Arsenal and the Black Stars, Ghana’s senior male national team.
Thomas Partey, who was born in Krobo Odumasi in the Eastern Region, started his professional career in 2013 at Atletico Madrid in Spain. He later went on loan to Mallorca and Almería before rejoining Atletico in 2015, where he helped the team win the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2018.
He became the most expensive Ghanaian player ever when he moved to Arsenal in 2020 for £45 million (€50 million).
In 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2019, the 28-year-old played for Ghana in three Africañ Cup of Nations competitions.
He was named into the CAF Team of the Year in 2018, and won Ghana Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019.
Due to injury, Partey is not playing for the Black Stars in the 2023 AFCON qualifications, although he is now in Ghana for the international break.
