Declan Rice’s nutrition has been a major factor in his success as one of the Premier League’s recruits this season.
Last summer, the 25-year-old completed a £105 million transfer from West Ham, making him Arsenal’s most expensive player.
With England, he is now aiming for European glory.
Rice is nearly certain to travel to Germany next month after being included in Gareth Southgate’s 33-man provisional England team ahead of Euro 2024.
Despite playing more than 4,200 minutes of football so far this season, the midfielder has been able to maintain his peak performance thanks to his “game-changing” diet.
Rice stated in an interview with Men’s Health UK that on game day, he typically gets his energy from a stack of pancakes.
“I have four pancakes before a game,” he stated. covered with honey or syrup.
“I promise you, it’s the greatest thing ever. I asked myself, “What is going on here?” when I first joined the team and saw the [Arsenal] guys devouring them. To be honest, though, it has changed the game.
It provides me a huge energy boost, but I have no idea what the science is behind it or what’s in them.
“I believe that’s the reason I can jiggle about the field so much. I may eat eight pancakes in a day if we’re performing at 5:30 p.m.
“I’ll have some at breakfast and I’ll have some more at 3.30pm before we play.”
This season, Rice was instrumental in Arsenal’s run for the Premier League title.
After pushing the race to the last day, the Gunners ended up in second place in the table, two points behind Manchester City.
