Despite being England’s “Starboy,” Bukayo Saka dislikes some of the nation’s most famous foods.
The Arsenal winger has participated in SPORTbible’s Snack Wars, where participants sample a range of cuisines from two different nations.
Saka had to taste food from Nigeria and England, where his parents are from, in the most recent episode.
And the African country narrowly prevailed 3-2, with two English culinary mainstays in particular offending the 22-year-old.
In the initial round, he was given Jollof rice instead of cauliflower cheese, and Saka, who has his own sauce at Nando’s, seemed to spit up the latter.
The Hale End graduate put his palm to his lips after eating his first taste and began shaking his head right away.
Then, the camera panned to him as he raised his head from beneath the table.
When a scotch egg was presented to Saka in round two, his situation didn’t improve, and he declared, “I don’t do scotch eggs.”
The forward sliced it in half to get a better look, and he was shocked to see that it included pork.
He groaned loudly in displeasure, obviously unimpressed, and decided not to try it at all.
A Twix bar defeated Milo Energy Cubes to give England its first victory in the chocolate category.
Saka was shown Twiglets, a foodstuff he had remarkably never heard of before, in the crisp round.
Plantain chips gave Nigeria a 3-1 advantage, and he rated them a 0/10 for being bland, saying they “looked like chicken bones.”
With Love Hearts defeating mint-flavored candy Tom Tom, England was able to save some face in the sweet category.
