‘Always the bridesmaid, never the bride’: Liverpool fans taunt Mikel Arteta with banner as trophy drought continues🤐

During the match against Arsenal, Mikel Arteta was made fun of by Liverpool supporters.

The Merseyside fans displayed a sign during the game that read, “Always the bridesmaid, never the bride,” and featured an image of Arteta clutching a wedding bouquet.

There was also a poster in the stands that showed Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, holding a camera and read, “Smile, champions.” The sign was a reference to Odegaard’s celebration following Arsenal’s victory over Liverpool in February of last year, during which the Norwegian midfielder borrowed an Arsenal photographer’s camera and took a few of his own.

Arsenal is currently in second place, 15 points behind Liverpool, who have already won the Premier League title.

Mikel Arteta is already capable of handling such taunts.

By awarding Liverpool the Guard of Honour and encouraging the team to overcome the disappointment of this season by doing well in the upcoming campaign, Mikel Arteta gave Arsenal’s players crucial advice that may also benefit him.

Arteta stated: “You need to be motivated and driven by something.” Sometimes, when you don’t feel like doing something but it’s the correct thing to do, you might use the suffering as inspiration for the upcoming season.

“We shall present a guard of honor to Liverpool. They are deserving. They have been the most reliable team and the superior one.

“That’s the sport; when someone is better, you have to respect them, accept them, and strive to be as good as they are.”
