Mohamed Salah has been encouraged to put his Liverpool exploits behind him by obtaining a move away from Anfield to one of two places.
Salah is Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in both the Premier League and the Champions League, giving him legendary status at the club. Because of his shape, there has often been speculation over whether he could go to the next level.
Yet, despite Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp, a transfer to Barcelona or Real Madrid may still be the ultimate goal for an exceptional player.
Salah, according to former Porto and Algeria forward Rabah Madjer, should be contemplating a summer move to either of the La Liga heavyweights.
“Salah is a superb footballer and the pride of all Arabs,” Madjer told Al Ain Sports. Liverpool is a large team, and they helped him make the most of his skill, something Chelsea couldn’t do previously.
“Renewing his contract would be a magnificent tribute to what he did at Anfield, but I’d want to see the Pharaohs great don the shirt of one of Spain’s heavyweights, Barcelona or Real Madrid.” That way, it would give his career a boost.”
Salah agreed to terms with Liverpool on a new deal before the start of the current season. Yet, the team has had a difficult season overall.
Salah, who turns 31 in June, still has some productive years ahead of him. But, the window in which he may join another elite club could be extremely limited.
Barcelona has already been connected speculatively with Salah for the summer as they want to enhance their outfield. But, whether they could afford him is doubtful.
Real Madrid may have other priorities, but it’s worth keeping an eye on in case a chance to sign Salah arises.
Liverpool’s deal should send a clear message to Salah
Salah, on the other hand, is under contract with Liverpool until 2025. His terms are the finest ever given to a player in the history of his club.
In theory, that should be enough to keep Liverpool from competing for Salah. But, it will be critical for them to enhance their form in the remaining weeks of the season to remind the Egypt international that they are in the correct position.
Jurgen Klopp’s squad seems to be in Ԁɑ𝚗ɡег of missing out on Champions League qualifying. Certainly, a player of Salah’s caliber should be in Europe’s top flight, particularly as he has still put up more than acceptable statistics this season.
Only time will tell what his next move will be after Liverpool, and when he will take it.
