Gundogan’s Milestone: Celebrating 300 Appearances for Manchester City!

The Germany international scored two goals and assisted on another as we recorded our eleventh consecutive Premier League victory.

He was City’s first acquisition during the Pep Guardiola era in 2016 and has been instrumental to the club’s success since.

Now 32 years old, our club commander has won four Premier League titles, four League Cup titles, one FA Cup, and two Community Shields.

The No. 8 will eternally be remembered at the Etihad for his heroics on the final day of the 2021/22 season when his two second-half goals helped Manchester City overcome a two-goal deficit against Aston Villa at home to clinch the Premier League championship.

The midfielder is held in such high regard by Guardiola and his coaching staff because of his consistency, profound comprehension of the game, and leadership through example both on and off the pitch.

“I will never forget him. In October 2022, the manager stated, “For me personally and for the squad, he is an incredible football player who is always grounded.

“He prefers second place and you can always rely on him one hundred percent. He granted us Premier League status. He can play both defensive and оffеnꜱιυе midfielder. He is so intelligent that he can discuss any topic.

This is why his teammates elected him commander. We are extremely pleased with our decision to adopt him.

“In the first year, he suffered an ACL ιnjᴜry, but by the second season, when we began to win championships, he was present.” It is a pleasure to have these people with you.”

During his seven seasons at the Etihad, Gundogan has occupied a variety of positions. He is a player who can control the momentum of a match with his flawless first touch and a keen eye for a pass.

When called upon, he has been equally adept in more defensive and more advanced positions, despite frequently serving as one of the midfielders ahead of Fernandinho or Rodrigo at the group’s base.

His first significant accomplishments with the club came in the 2018-2019 season, when we became the first and, to date, only Premier League team to record 100 points in a single season. We also won the Carabao Cup that season by defeating Arsenal 3-0 at Wembley.

Due to Fernandinho’s absence for much of the final stretch of the 2018-19 season, Gundogan was called upon to play the holding role in midfield. He did so expertly as we won our final 14 games of the season to win our second Premier League title in two years.

In addition, he scored our first penalty in a shootout victory against Chelsea to win a second Carabao Cup and started in our 6-0 FA Cup final annihilation of Watford.

In 2020/21, he assumed a more оffеnꜱιυе position and scored a career-high 17 goals in all competitions as we reclaimed the Premier League, retained the Carabao Cup, and reached the Champions League final.

In the 2021/22 season, he returned to his more familiar position in the center of midfield, but he once again demonstrated his aptitude for scoring crucial goals with his title-clinching brace on the final day.

Now Club captain following Fernandinho’s departure last season, Gundogan has proven to be a capable leader as the Blues continue their pursuit of three remaining trophies and another memorable season.

He has also demonstrated an interest in developing the next generation and his life beyond his playing career by obtaining his coaching credentials and occasionally conducting Under-16 training sessions.
