Exclusive: Laporta Spills Beans on Messi’s ՏҺоcƙι𝚗ɡ Barcelona Homecoming

Juan Laporta and Lionel Messi

Juan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, spoke candidly about the ргоꜱреcт of Lionel Messi returning to his former team.

The 60-year-old promised to do everything in his power and that of the organization to get Leo back to Barca.

“We will do everything we can to bring Leo Messi back to Barcelona”, Laporta told the press.

The Spaniard claimed that in order to create a very competitive team, Messi is a need.

“We are working to have the possibility to build a very competitive team next season”, he said. “We’ll see if they [La Liga] will approve our viability plan”.

The president of Barcelona insisted that the team can financially гιᴠаℓ anyone. He also discussed his friendship with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

“I have spoken to Messi, we’ve recovered the relationship. It was very nice,” said the 60-year-old. “Al Hilal bid? Barça is Barça. This club can compete with everyone. In Arabia they are doing a good job and investing… but I insist, Barça is his home.”

Laporta made it quite clear that Barca will not make a ridiculously high offer.

“We want Leo — we will not offer cгаzy figures for that or any other deal. We’ll try to make things work with the viability plan, waiting for the approval,” he added.

“Where would Leo play? Up to Xavi, it’s never an issue with the best player in the world,” he concluded.

Lionel Messi and Barcelona president Joan Laporta are still in touch, according to Laporta, and they are discussing Messi’s ргоꜱреcтive return to the team.

Messi famously quit the Catalan powerhouses because they were forced to follow Financial Fair Play regulations and were unable to extend him a new contract.

After this season, Messi is anticipated to leave PSG

Since then, Laporta has disclosed that he has spoken with Messi, a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, about a ргоꜱреcтive comeback.

“I have spoken with Leo to, in some way, redirect the situation that occurred when I had to put the institution ahead of everything, including him, the best player in the world,” Laporta told Els matins de TV3.

Messi, 35, is considering leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after the team suspended him on May 3 for traveling to Saudi Arabia without permission.

The 35-year-old and Laporta are in discussion regarding a future comeback to Barcelona

The 35-year-old signed a two-year contract to move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.

However, Messi has had a rough time with the Parisian giants and is anticipated to leave when his contract expires at the conclusion of the season.

Given that Barca has officially won their first LaLiga championship under Xavi Hernandez, Laporta is undoubtedly in a good mood.

In spite of fan unrest, Barcelona’s 4-2 triumph over archгιᴠаℓ Espanyol on Sunday allowed them to win their first championship in four years.

FCB is currently quite active in the transfer market, as they are searching for a variety of players to bolster their roster.

Among the players on the Spanish team are Lionel Messi, Martin Zubimendi, Ruben Neves, and Sofyan Amrabat.

There is no doubt, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, that Messi will leave PSG.

“Behind the scenes, it’s now understood that Leo’s father Jorge communicated the decision to PSG already one month ago due to the project. It was the final ƅгеаƙι𝚗ɡ point,” Romano tweeted.
