After claiming victory over West Ham on May 11, the under-18 squad representing Manchester City won the Premier League youth championship for the third season in a row. This season, much like the first team, the Academy of the club that plays its home games at Etihad Stadium won all three of its respective youth league trophies. A victory in the Northern region of England for a fourth consecutive year was the previous accomplishment for the Man City U18 team. During the course of this season, the Man City U23 team was also victorious in the Premier League youth league.
This season, the triumph of Man City U18 over West Ham is regarded as the most convincing evidence of the high quality of the training center located in the blue half of Manchester. Because the U18 West Ham team is also among the top young teams in the league this season, they deserve some recognition. After defeating Arsenal U18 5-1 in the final of the FA Cup youth competition at the end of April, the young squad “Sledgehammer” is the current and reigning champion of the competition.
As a result, teams affiliated with the Man City academy have triumphed in the murky youth football this season, capturing three of the season’s four most prestigious awards. If Manchester City’s first team is successful this season and wins both the Premier League and the FA Cup, the club that plays its home games at Etihad Stadium will go down as the first in English football history to win the majority of the season’s most important collective honors.
Man City is now in first place in the English Premier League with 82 points, one point ahead of Arsenal despite “The Gunners” having played one game fewer than Man City. On May 14, the Everton stadium will play host to Manchester City as part of the 36th round of the Premier League. The FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United is scheduled to take place on June 3. The club coached by Pep Guardiola is favored to win both the FA Cup and the Premier League in the upcoming campaign (Opta gives them a 93% chance of doing so).
