The summer transfer window is about to open and several top players will become free agents. Let’s take a look at five big names whose contracts with clubs will expire at the end of the season.
Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

In March, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Roberto Firmino would leave the club as a free agent at the end of the current season. The Brazilian striker is a fan favorite at Anfield and has played a crucial role in the Reds’ success in recent years.
In 360 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool, the 31-year-old Firmino has scored 109 goals and provided 79 assists. But his strength has waned over the last couple of seasons and Liverpool have decided not to sign him again.
Milan Skriniar (Inter)

The future of the Slovak has been the subject of much speculation since the beginning of the year. Asked by futbolsfz in January to confirm whether he had signed with Paris Saint-Germain, the footballer said:
“Yes, it is, but I can’t ꜱаy more at the moment.”
Skrinjar’s contract with Inter Milan expires this summer, at which time he will officially become a free agent. He has won Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Italian Տᴜрег Cup since 2017 with the Italian giants.
Sergio Ramos (PSG)

Sergio Ramos’ contract with PSG expires on June 30, 2023. He did not agree on a new agreement, this summer he can leave the club on a free transfer.
Ramos joined PSG on a free transfer in 2021 after 16 years at Real Madrid. The first season at the club was unsuccessful – the football player was pursued by injuries, but Sergio spent the second season actively and was vital for the team’s defense.
Ramos, 37, is one of the most decorated defenders in the world and has a wealth of experience. However, it is clear that he is no longer the player he once was, and perhaps he is more suitable for a club that does not play in the Champions League.
Ilkay Gundogan (Man City)

Gundogan will become a free agent at the end of the season. There are гᴜмогꜱ that he may leave the English club this summer.
Gundogan has been a key player for City since joining the club in 2016. He has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and four League Cups with England. He is a versatile midfielder who can play in a variety of positions.
City are in talks with Gundogan’s representatives about a new contract, but so far the parties cannot reach an agreement. According to The Athletic, Gundogan wants a two-year contract, but the British are only willing to offer him one year. Other clubs are also showing interest in the 32-year-old Gundogan, including Barcelona and Arsenal.
Lionel Messi (PSG)

Despite a very good season on a personal level, Lionel Messi is controversial among Paris Saint-Germain fans. There are several reasons why Messi’s move to PSG is considered a failure.
The club has failed to achieve its main goal of winning the Champions League since signing Messi in 2021. The team should be built around Leo, since his defensive work rate is not the best, his teammates often have to put in extra effort. It is currently unlikely that PSG will offer him a new contract.
