Piers Morgan: Cristiano Ronaldo wants to join Arsenal in 2022

According to Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo wа𝚗теԀ to sign with Arsenal in January and would have given them the Premier League championship if he had.

After being released by Manchester United earlier this season, Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly expressed interest in moving to Arsenal.

Even though the Red Devils’ title ambitions were immediately shattered and they ended the season with their lowest point total in the Premier League era, Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford at the conclusion of the summer 2021 transfer window.

Last summer, the forward tried to arrange a transfer to any club in the Champions League. Bayern Munich and Chelsea are among the teams who have publicly stated they were interested in signing Ronaldo, but they later decided against it.

Ronaldo started the 2022–23 season on the bench for newly appointed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, but he was disciplined for leaving the stadium before the conclusion of a victory over Tottenham in October.

A few weeks before the winter World Cup, Ronaldo gave an inflammatory interview in which Morgan attacked Ten Hag and Man Utd’s ownership. He and the club swiftly came to an understanding over the mutual termination of his contract in the days that followed.

Once more, Ronaldo had few suitors, and despite his desire to stay in Europe, he ultimately decided to sign with Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr on a lucrative contract with a total value of almost £250 million.

However, infamous Arsenal supporter Morgan claims that Ronaldo would have helped his team and that the forward told him he was open to a move to the Emirates Stadium. Morgan is upset about the Gunners’ aborted Premier League title bid.

“Mock all you like, but if we’d signed Ronaldo when he left Utd, until the end of the season – as he was keen to do by the way – we would have won the league. He knows how to win major trophies, and how to score goals when it really matters,” Morgan said on Twitter.

Ronaldo’s attempt to win the Saudi Pro League is probably going to fall short, while Morgan’s Arsenal are nearly certain to finish the season in second place to Manchester City in the Premier League.

With only three games left in the season, Al Nassr is three points behind Al Ittihad. Since his move to the Middle East, Ronaldo has scored 13 goals and provided two assists in 14 appearances.

In the January transfer window, Arsenal did make an effort to strengthen their squad by finalizing deals for Jorginho, Leandro Trossard, and Jakub Kiwior. Ronaldo may have only scored three goals for Manchester United this season before being let go, but in 16 games for Al-Nassr, he has found the back of the net 12 times, demonstrating that he is still one of the most lethal and dependable goal scorers in the league.

Given that they are no longer in contention for the title, Arsenal must now put together recruitment strategies for the summer of 2023. They are still extensively connected to players like Declan Rice of West Ham and Moises Caicedo of Brighton.
