Unveiling 2023/24 Home Kit: PUMA and City Commemorate 20 Years of Glory at the Iconic Etihad Stadium

The uniform pays homage to the stadium’s defining characteristics and is inspired by the shirt worn during the inaugural season at the new stadium.

In August 2003, after 80 years at Maine Road, Manchester City made the historic transfer to Etihad Stadium, 3.5 miles away.

This signified the beginning of a new era for the club, one characterized by new records, new legends, and great moments. The Home kit for the 2023–24 season is a testament to this legacy, honoring the Etihad Stadium and all those who call it home.

The front graphic of the new Home uniform was inspired by the distinctive architecture of the Etihad Stadium, specifically the four giant turrets visible from the outside of the stadium, which form tonal stripes on the jersey.

The postcode of the stadium is displayed on the back of the neck to commemorate 20 years at City’s new home. The white V-neck collar is influenced by the 2003/04 Home shirt, which was the first to be worn at the Etihad.

As part of the kit launch, PUMA and Manchester City invited a number of fans and club representatives, including young City fan and City in the Community participant Finlay, CITC Ambassador Alex Williams MBE, young female fan Esme, and Manchester City shirt collector Mark McCarthy.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, club ambassador and member of Manchester City’s inaugural team at the Etihad Stadium in 2003-04, stated, “The Etihad Stadium is a significant part of Manchester City’s history.”

“Players and fans will cherish the moments they shared there, so it’s excellent that PUMA drew inspiration from it for this year’s Home kit.

“I am immensely honored to have worn the Manchester City jersey and participated in the club’s inaugural season at the Etihad. I hope this year’s shirt evokes as many memories for our supporters as it has for me.”

“The 20th anniversary of our relocation to the Etihad Stadium is a momentous occasion, commemorating the phenomenal ascent of the club during that time. The new Home kit is a tribute to the extraordinary moments shared there and the fans’ unwavering support, according to Marco Mueller, PUMA’s Senior Head of Product Line Management for Teamsport Apparel.

“The jersey combines modern design elements with tributes to the club’s first season at the new stadium to create a one-of-a-kind and meaningful kit for the players and fans, celebrating their new home.”

The new uniform incorporates cutting-edge technology to maximize performance and comfort on the pitch.

The suit is constructed from ULTRAWEAVE fabric and features a 4-way stretch structure that reduces weight and friction, allowing players to move freely and comfortably. The dryCELL technology incorporated into the fabric is designed to prevent perspiration.

The Replica version is constructed from 100 percent recycled polyester and features dryCELL sweat-wicking technology to keep you dry and comfortable for 90 minutes and beyond, regardless of the time, place, or field. As a step towards a better future, both jerseys are manufactured from 100% recycled materials, excluding the trims and decorations.

Following the success of PUMA’s first-ever kit launch in the Metaverse for our 2022/23 Third kit in August of last year, City will emphasize the launch of their 2023/24 Home kit with a celebratory Metaverse event on their Blue Moon Roblox experience.

A customizable virtual variation of the Home kit will be accessible to players. Here you can access the Blue Moon event, which will feature digital merchandise, fun missions, photo opportunities, and special appearances from some of your favorite City players.

The 2023/24 Manchester City Home Kit will be available on May 19 at PUMA stores, PUMA.com, the City store at Etihad Stadium, mancity.com/shop, and select retailers worldwide.

Cityzens Members and Season Ticket holders can receive a 10% discount at official Manchester City retailers.
