‘Unaccepted’, Man Utd’s star speak out about ‘a mess’ inside locker room after defeat

Defender Luke Shaw made remarkable statements in an interview with Sky Sports after the defeat to Newcastle United.

Man Utd has a trip to Newcastle United’s field with the hope of winning 3 points to secure 3rd place in the Premier League table. However, the Red Devils show a sporadic k/i/c/k.

In the end, coach Erik ten Hag’s teachers and students received a 0-2 defeat. Joe Willock and Callum Wilson were the two scorers in this match.

Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Shaw said: “I don’t think Newcastle won today’s game because of quality. I think they won it through passion, desire, and attitude.

They are more motivated than we are, and that is unacceptable.

We know today is a big game and they want more of it. At Manchester United, that’s not possible.”

Shaw continued: “Newcastle’s home ground is an extremely difficult place to play. And if we didn’t have that passion and desire, we would be left behind, that’s obvious on the pitch.

We didn’t create too many chances, and as a result, we fell the rankings.”

Man Utd players quarrel after losing to Newcastle

After the final whistle, the camera discovered Antony and Diogo Dalot were talking back and forth right on the field. Dalot had a bad day when he was constantly overtaken by Allan Saint-Maximin. Meanwhile, Antony also performed poorly and was substituted early when the match was not over.

The loss made many Man Utd players disappointed and dropped into the tunnel. Captain Bruno Fernandes had to exhort his teammates to return to the field to thank the fans who traveled to St James’ Park.

“Disappointed is the word to describe how we feel at the moment. We know Newcastle will play close so we try to find space. However, Man United is impatient,” Dalot said after the defeat.

“In the last 30 minutes of the game, we should have calmed down to find opportunities. We did not show the desire to win,” added the Portuguese defender.

The convincing 2-0 victory at home helped Newcastle take the third place of Man Utd itself. The two teams have the same 50 points, but “The Magpies” is ahead thanks to a better difference (+22 vs +4).

At home, Newcastle confidently organized high-pressing phases that made Man Utd’s midfield and defense unable to deploy the ball. The midfield including Marcel Sabitzer, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes constantly lost in duels.

In the first half, “The Magpies” completely dominated with a ball-holding rate of 52% and 11 shots. In the opposite direction, the “Red Devils” played poorly and only had 2 shots off the column. Without the excellence of De Gea, the visitors’ net would have shaken, after two close shots from Isak and Joe Willock in the 16th minute.

When Wan-Bissaka was absent, Allan Saint-Maximin had no trouble facing Diogo Dalot. The French winger constantly stirred in the left corridor and helped Newcastle concretize their attack effort with the opening goal in the 65th minute. Saint-Maximin’s wall header opened the space for Willock to score. from a distance of less than 5 m. After the goal, Man Utd still could not get on the ball under pressure from the home team’s middle line. Rashford and Weghorst are “missing”, while Antony also only has a few harmless shots from a long distance.

Martial entered the field with the task of strengthening the attack but did not have the opportunity to shine when the middle line of the away team kept losing the ball. The most significant mark of striker number 9 was a save right on the goal line, after Fabian Schar’s close-range header in the 76th minute.

About the last 10 minutes, coach Ten Hag played all his hands when only arranging one central defender on the field, Victor Lindelof. Varane, Lisandro Martinez had to leave the field to make way for Fred, Pellistri. The “Red Devils” could not pressurize, and then paid the price with the second goal in the 88th minute. From the corner on the right, Callum Wilson headed high, causing De Gea to give up.
