According to Dharmesh Sheth, Manchester United is interested in signing Declan Rice, a midfielder for West Ham United, and they are also keeping an eye on Moises Caicedo, a star player for Brighton & Hove Albion.
In order to strengthen their midfield in time for the 2023–24 season, the Red Devils have already selected Mason Mount of Chelsea as their top transfer target.
The Englishman’s transfer is now the subject of negotiations with the Blues, but a recent report suggested that the Red Devils may seek more than one midfielder this summer.
Sheth has now made it known that the Red Devils are considering hiring Rice. Additionally, they desire updates on Caicedo’s transfer situation.
Depending on player sales, Manchester United could sign Rice or Caicedo
Currently, United is giving the Chelsea transfer of Mount first priority. The Blues want at least £70m to approve a transfer, but the Red Devils value him at £50m.
Although there is a substantial disparity in the teams’ assessments of each player, a deal may be close at hand given that Mount will begin the final year of his contract next month.
Meanwhile, the sale of other players may have a significant impact on Rice or Caicedo’s transfer. This summer, United may split ways with Donny van de Beek, Fred, and Scott McTominay.
They might recover £70–80m as a result, which would motivate them to sign another midfielder.
Although Rice and Caicedo are both primarily holding midfielders, they both have the ball retention and distribution skills to play in the number eight position.
Either player would improve United’s midfield, but Caicedo is more versatile, thus we personally favor him. He is versatile and can play right back or anywhere in midfield.
Chelsea and Arsenal are sure to compete with United for the Ecuadorian youngster.
