Neul Maupay says Liverpool £53m target could soon be neighbours at Merseyside

Neal Maupay, an Everton striker, has hinted that he would soon live nearby Khephren Thuram, who is reportedly a target for Liverpool.

Thuram has been a viable transfer possibility for Liverpool during the past week. The Frenchman and the Reds are apparently in negotiations, so he may be at Anfield shortly.

And now, in an appearance with the French television program GymTonic, Maupay may have fueled the fire even further.

The Everton player made a statement that would stick in the ears of Liverpool supporters everywhere when asked about the young prospect Thuram at his previous club OGC Nice.

He is an excellent player. We might soon live next to each other,” the 26-year-old stated. Interesting!

Liverpool is attempting to sign Thuram

This obviously doesn’t mean that Thuram is officially joining the Reds. There is little indication that Maupay currently understands the workings of Nice, despite the fact that he was a member of their team in the past.

He also has no personal history with the Reds target because he is a few years older than Thuram. They have never previously engaged in play. He has no business knowing what the 22-year-old’s next step will be.

It’s also possible that Maupay is implying a trip back to the South of France. He hasn’t had a good time at Everton, so perhaps he’s trying to get back to his old team.

Whatever Maupay’s motivation, it is obvious that Liverpool is indeed interested in Thuram.

Now that Alexis Mac Allister is expected to leave Brighton, Jurgen Klopp will continue to bolster his midfield with another player.

Despite comments made yesterday that Nice will need to receive a “explosive” bid before selling Khephren, a price of about £53m has previously been suggested. That is not a horrible price to pay for a player with so much promise. You would imagine that the pricing is reasonable for Liverpool.

Anyway, it looks like Thuram will have a pre-made estate agent ready to show him the ropes should the Reds move forward with things!
