According to rumours in France, Manchester United is getting close to signing center defender Axel Disasi from Monaco.
Eric Bailly is expected to leave United this summer on a permanent basis, while captain Harry Maguire is also searching for a new center back after losing favor with Erik ten Hag this year.
Kim Min-jae of Napoli is on United’s short list, but L’Equipe claims that Ten Hag’s team is now working to close a deal for Disasi.
The Disasi has reportedly given the go-ahead for his transfer to United, but the Premier League team is still in advanced negotiations with Monaco on a transfer fee, according to the source.
It’s believed that Monaco is seeking a deal for between €40m (£34.4m) and €50m (£43m).
Disasi has openly expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and has also been linked with Manchester City and Chelsea.
The defender said in April, “Everyone knows the quality, the passion, and the spectacle that there is in this league.”
This competition will appeal to all athletes that enjoy football. It’s true that when I say these things, images of Boxing Day and similar events flood through my mind. But as I said, we haven’t arrived yet.
Disasi’s current contract has two years left on it after he moved to Monaco from Reims in a deal of €13m (£11.7m) in 2020.
The 25-year-old has three France caps and was a member of the team that lost to Argentina in the World Cup final last December.
