Kylian Mbappe lost interest in staying with PSG after the disappointing 2022–23 season and the departure of Karim Benzema from Real Madrid. When the summer transfer market in 2023 opens, Mbappe’s future is once more a big topic. Since his relationship with the French capital club worsened, it is now more likely than ever that the striker born in 1998 would leave PSG.
Mbappe’s commitment
It was assumed that Mbappe will inform PSG that he would not be renewing his current deal. The French captain did not want to remain with the Parc des Princes team for an extended period of time, Le Parisen or France Football reported in May. It says a lot that L’Equipe confirmed Mbappe’s decision not to extend his contract on June 12.
PSG also put Mbappe under pressure. The defending Ligue 1 winners will sell the player this summer if he chooses not to extend his contract. Mbappe’s current deal with PSG expires in June 2024, after which he will be able to sign with any other team for an unlimited amount of money.
The Qatari owners do not want to find themselves in the same position as Mbappe did last season, when he waited for the relationship between him and the team to break before making a decision. However, Mbappe seems to be enjoying PSG’s irate attitude just fine.
The 2018 World Cup champion may no longer view PSG as a launching pad for his career. Mbappe is said to have previously exerted pressure on the PSG hierarchy. The former Monaco great wants PSG to make a significant adjustment in order to continue dominating Europe after the disappointing 2022–2023 Champions League campaign.
However, the PSG transfer market’s current indications do not inspire much hope. Although there are numerous rumors that PSG has taken a final choice about the future of the French tactician, coach Christophe Galtier has not yet been officially fired. PSG has not yet chosen a name for Mr. Galtier.
After Lionel Messi left, PSG reassembled a team that lacked stability in many areas. They still haven’t even come close to bringing in a good rookie. Mbappe might grow impatient as a result.
When it comes to PSG, the French team’s management is dissatisfied as well because Mbappe is constantly held “hostage” in contract talks. The most sensible course of action for the current Ligue 1 champion, both financially and professionally, is to sell Mbappe this summer.
Front door of Real Madrid
Mbappe is adamant about leaving this summer for a number of reasons, including the departure of Benzema from Real Madrid. Mbappe was concerned about having to compete with other strikers at Real Madrid when he turned down offers from “Los Blancos” in the summers of 2017 and 2022.
Before Mbappe signed a loan agreement (with a buy option) with PSG in the summer of 2017, Real Madrid also made an approach at a fee comparable to the French capital team. However, the management of AS Monaco eventually acknowledged that Mbappe preferred to join PSG over Real Madrid. The 1998-born striker is worried about having to contend with Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, or Cristiano Ronaldo for the goal kick.
When Benzema had a strong season while wearing a Real Madrid jersey the previous year, Mbappe was likewise reserved. The winner of the 2018 World Cup was not overly concerned about his or her starting spot at the Bernabeu at that time. If he joins Real Madrid, he hopes to hold the position of the top star and attack coordinator. Mbappe could scarcely fill that spot when Benzema or Ronaldo were still playing for Real Madrid.
Now that Benzema has relocated to Saudi Arabia, President Florentino Perez wants to replace him with a “blockbuster” contract. The name Real Madrid needs right now is Mbappe. It should be recalled that businessman Perez made a fairly intriguing remark about the likelihood of Real Madrid signing Mbappe just last week. The manager of “Los Blancos” promptly responded when a fan inquired about the likelihood of signing Mbappe: “Yes, but not this year.”
That demonstrates that after the incident last summer, Real and Mbappe’s relationship appears to be improving. Harry Kane will be a perfect fit for Real this summer, and Mbappe will come next summer, midfielder Nacho proceeded to react to the Real president in an interview with Spain.
Few athletes have the courage to publicly discuss transfer rumors like Nacho, who helps paint a partial image of Real Madrid’s buying spree this summer. The ideal scenario would be for Mbappe to sign a free agent contract in the summer of 2024, but if given the chance, the Bernabeu team would not turn down Mbappe’s arrival this summer.
