Harvey Elliott, a Liverpool loanee who has been spotted playing in the company’s footwear for more than six months, has now been formally identified as a New Balance athlete, joining the roster’s tremendous growth.
After his contract with Nike expired last year, Harvey Elliott had been testing out several boots in search of a new manufacturer. This continued up until September, when he made his debut in a pair of New Balance boots during Liverpool’s 7-2 preseason victory over Blackpool, in which he also scored.
Wearing them for the most of his time on loan with Blackburn, he clearly felt at ease in them and doesn’t seem to have looked back. Though he had been wearing New Balance boots for a while, his future had not been made public. Up until now, that is.
The England youth international is also the club’s youngest-ever starting player. Following the recent capture of Bukayo Saka, it’s yet another well-known name for the future of New Balance.
Elliott said, “Joining New Balance is a huge step in my career. “I’m happy with how I’ve played this season, but I’m also focused on working hard and improving my game. Working with a big company that wants to support me in getting there feels amazing.
Elliott has been sporting his own custom red and black Furon v6+ colorway since November, and he will continue to do so.
Unsigned players typically play in blackout boots, so fresh Balance’s strategy has been unique, but the American company appears to be attempting a fresh strategy to win over players. Raheem Sterling’s white and gold boots and Elliott’s red boots have both been spotted, and signs point to Elliott being the next player to sign with the brand.
