Trent Alexander-Arnold and Marcus Rashford were praised by Bukayo Saka after England defeated North Macedonia 7-0 on Monday night at Old Trafford.
The Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold provided a brilliant assist for Saka’s second goal, giving the Arsenal star his first professional hat-trick.
Rashford also scored as England triumphed in the Euro 2024 qualifying match.
At full time, Saka was eager to compliment Rashford and Alexander-Arnold and could not contain his happiness at scoring his first hat-trick.
Saka told Channel 4, “This is a feeling I really can’t put it into words.” I have no words to adequately express it. I’m just giddy.
“The display we put on tonight was really special,” said the crew. They couldn’t really handle us because of course, with me and [Marcus Rashford] racing down the wings, we were incredibly direct and crisp. I had a great time playing there today.
“Everyone knows that [Trent Alexander-Arnold] is a top-tier player, but before halftime, he told me he planned to make that pass [for his second goal].
“When I made a goal, I looked for him to give him credit because he did it flawlessly!” I did not need to pause in my stride. He merits praise.
“This season has been extremely long.” I couldn’t have brought it to a close any better. It’s time to unwind and take a rest. We are quite pleased with the support and attendance from our fans.
Since beating Montenegro by the same score at Wembley in November 2019, England’s victory margin in a home game on Monday was the largest.
